I do
htforward
to make sure that the successful build will still be successful after the GCC
patch is reverted.
Is there an easy way we can suggest to our upstreams to re-enable the errors ?
That may be useful for them to update their code.

The -i8 option doesn't work with .F files, which get run through the C
preprocessor.
To see the error message, execute this sequence:
touch t.F
gfortran -c -i8 t.F
The resulting error message is:
cc1: erro
a syntax
error... I had not retried with gcc-4.3 until I got your mail, and I
confirm that the bug is fixed in gcc-4.3.
