running on. The ypbind daemon doesnt really need to run at all IMO, I killed
it and it appears to be working normally.

I'm just wondering - does the Packages* and Contents* files really need
to be updated every day? There are no new packages being put in the
0.93 area, and therefor I'm no so sure we have to... Just saves the
mirrors downloading the same files over and over and over again etc

to adapt some settings in it's resource file "/etc/efax.rc" to your system.

a lot easier.

How can we move towards implementing something like this? What
other ideas are there for dealing with disappearing packages?

Good points, I also discovered Synaptic works well for manually
looking for removed packages. Notifying PTS subscribers by email
also sounds very useful. Still, I worry about the people who
don't know to check for removed packages - and aren't watching
the packages tha
are case of totally monochromatic vision).
