p.s. Also I was under the impression that GNU (getopt?) used things
on the command line like
--rev
as option-selectors with option name-completion.
I was very surprised to see that `adduser' accepted `--version' as
a username!

Problem: base/modules installs genksyms as `/usr/bin/genksyms',
kernel Makefile[?] looks for `/sbin/genksyms'.
