In Debian 9 I had the regular 4 inputs, in Debian 10 only 2.
Just the run-off-the-mill distro with the run of the mill kernels,

Just another thing. I must emphasize that the problem kernel here is:
4.4.0-1-amd64. When I submitted this bug, I was using my previous/backup
kernel 4.3.0-1-amd64. On that older kernel, the bug does not occur. I
simply reconnect my USB mass storage device with no problems.

I realized I should add some additional details.
The affected computer is a Lenovo Thinkpad W530 laptop.
I tested two very different keyboards with the same results. I also
connected one of those keyboards to a coworkers machine, and found no
issues with the same keyboard on a different machine.

Actually I tested it again and appears I was not exact.
When device starts everything is ok.
Then Linux app opens "/dev/serial/by-id/mydevice" (which with lsof somehow
shows that /dev/ttyACM0 was opened instead)
and sends few bytes: "t 6\n\r",

regarding general: USB mouse lag, while PS2 mouse is OK
scrolling a page with the middle mouse button - a
lag of around a second.
The problem is hard to reproduce and happen occasionaly. My mouse is wireless
and I even suspected the battery is to blame, however, after replacing it with
a fresh one the same thing happened.
Rplaced it with another USB

For "cp" this is not a bug, you are supposed to umount the filesystem
before you remove the usb device. Nothing in "man cp" guarantees that
the file has been copied to the disk wh
