Okay I removed VMware tools as requested too. I thought we had it cracked then as the Ctrl-C took a lot more of them, maybe 30 then it froze again. The crash happened at 10:45 before the gap in the logs below. Not sure they provide much info which is annoying. david@debian:~$ sudo journalctl -f
