Also as you aren't the filer or owner of that ITP please make sure anything you do is agreeable to the actual ITP owner. I'm the current ITP owner, and an upstream MATE developer too. I alread talked with Adrian some weeks ago and I would be happy to move MATE packaging on an appropriate team.
