checking, still a newbie. By that you mean changing to an explicit
dependency on
the version in debian/control (e.g. libboost-system-dev ->
libboost-system1.81-dev)
and reuploading the source? After the transition finished I would undo that
change again.

Perhaps this is also the case for debian-11.5.0-amd64-netinst.iso. I was
not sure at that point. Maybe that was a wrong assumption I made.

Does not work:

I am not sure if "bullseye-updates main" are absolutely necessary (perhaps
someone can tell me). In any case, "bullseye main" is currently in a
non-functioning state, without "bullseye-updates main". Thought I'd write this
to point that out.

The policy guide does not really mention this [1], but it certainly
worked before. And AFAIK it is a wide spread usage.
What are your thoughts on that? Is there any other thread
discussing this? The current bugs for apt touching on virtual

The package doesn't have a lot todo, though we should look into some
issues and I'd prefer not to work on it alone.
Please contact me if you are interested, first step should be to have a

Description
There is nothing else the
maintainer could have done in this case.
What I find disturbing is that we really think that shaming the
maintainer would be a better approach. Who cares if he uses the
unreproducible tag, if he wants to get feedback about the issue from
others? We should care more about the human cost of this thread.

Markus

while the policy currently mandates it (modulo discussion on this list).

over again by updating this field and mentioning it in the d/changelog,
doesn't strike me as being a useful task. There are better ways to
determine bit rot IMO.

ut apparently
they have never packaged a game or multimedia application before. Get
rid of the distinction between common-licenses and DFSG-approved licenses.
Every DFSG-free license should be available on a Debian system. Full
stop. Don't require that people have to quote the same license text over
and over again in their packages. That would be a step forward.

ms and remove the package (the xscreensaver case), if
they don't understand that there is no technical reason for warning
users about "old software", if it is not broken.
I think such packages would be better suited for PPAs or bikesheds.
