I can think of a couple of reasons that bin86 might not be in the
true-blue depends for the source package, but I'd think it'd at least be
"recommended" since you can't compile a new kernel without it.

I use echo as a rough workaround for a missing ls.

I've been holding off mentioning it during the release crunch,
but there's a tiny grep-alike from the ae author.
I've taken a quick look, and it looks like it has the
potential to be usable,
: this is great for backwards binary compatability, something Linux
: has excelled at.
With all due respect, Linux has been worse about this than many other
platforms, especially where C++ programs are concerned. FreeBSD, for
example, has been more stable over the past couple of years. SunOS

There's no room. No kidding. If Ian adds /root/bin, etc. to the shell path,
it will use the versions that you install from the base floppies, but you'll
have to install them first.
For the next release, I'll have a "tiny" installation tool set that includes
its own "ls".

Bill,
Can you make "ae" install with the function-key map? The last version seems
to install the modal map, which isn't as nice for new users.
Thanks

I'll fix this tonight. I did it wrongly and in too big of a rush at

This line refers to dpkg and dselect. The manual pages of these

If I choose "expert mode" and shell out, "ls" is not found. I think
