FTR, after the update in unstable of firefox-esr/91.2.0esr-1 the
behaviour is gone.

I using 21.2.1-2 version to try to provide more information for this bug.
To reproduce
GLX is still the default for firefox-esr. EGL is a non-default
configuration.
