Oddly enough, the same (optimized) package works fine when built with
clang (3.4.2-6). According to autobuilders log, the faulty gcc in use
was 4.9.1-1.
As a workaround, I can either:
* Force building with gcc-4.8 (haven't tried

Note that compiling straight from upstream also exhibits this behavior and it
