This sounds like a plausible cause for this bug. I haven't seen this
bug happen myself, so "no comment" on whether it's still reproducible.

sorry for my delay in answering this bug…
I have cherry-picked a set of patches from Fedora into cups 1.6.4-2
including two dbus related ones:
- Avoid stale lockfile in dbus notifier
- Stop accessing avahi through D-Bus using two threads
It would be nice if you could attempt reproduc
Another data point which looks very similar:
I printed several hundred jobs today (all the same 1 page), and cups
crashed once with:
cupsd[8171]: segfault at f75fc814 ip f76413f8 sp ffbb3980
error 7 in libdbus-1.so.3.7.4[f7618000+49000]
