The sound broke on several of my computers when I upgraded from 2.6.32 to
2.6.38. I assumed the problem was simply needing to compile alsa-source like
I have in the past. I didn't realize that 2.6.38 includes alsa 1.0.23
drivers. In that case, I will do some further analysis and file
