The "data loss" rationale in this bug report is fairly weak.
The offending file (which you even didn't send to the bug report) is
not destroyed nor lost.
I'm not the package maintainer but, from the bug discussion, I don't
think this bugs deserves to be release crit
Yes, the bug i report is the same you mention.
The real severity of the bug (that otherwise should have been a wish list
item) is that the versions i download from openofficeorg behave
differently than the ones you get from debian site, and a file that have
expected results from one does not ha
In the launchpad bug report (the link above) there is a discussion about
why OOo now behaves like this. I understood from this discussion that
upstream deliberate made this change for improved Excel compatibility.
I'm an experienced Excel user, and I certainly expect Excel to behave

The formula behaves the same in 2.4 and 3.0. My 3.0 is the experiem

I know that is a poor programming practice summing number and strings,
