I have a similar problem with HP DL380 servers with a RAID controller that uses the "cciss" driver. Disks show up under /dev/cciss like: /dev/cciss/c0d0p6 on / type ext3 (rw,errors=remount-ro) And since grub no longer understands that, grub-mkdevicemap leaves me with an empty device.map and
