I have this problem since I upgraded to mail-notification &
mail-notification-evolution version 4.1.dfsg.1-4.
With mail-notification running and Evolution not running I get "Unable
to contact Evolution". This used to work before.
Evolution version 2.12.0.

Oh! I just noticed that you're running evolution 2.8 from the
experimental branch!
Well then, this is a known issue and i can confirm that i need to
modify debian/rules to accomodate evo 2.8 .
