I forgot to mention that both affected systems have successfully made
the switch to insserv style init scripts ordering, in case it's related.

Hi, looks like today mktemp is again obsolete in Squeeze, it's marked as
"dummy" on my system, and aptitude shows it available only in Unstable.
But coreutils version 7.3-1 in Squeeze doesn't include a replacement yet.
