So,
since this bug has been reopened without comments, here's what appears
to be the status:
currently stretch has 1.36-3+deb9u2 and sid has 1.36-5.
According to the changelog, stretch get a patch in -3+deb9u1 which was
reverted in -3+deb9u2.
sid got that patch in -5, no revert.

tempfile.gettempdir() returns /tmp. It does not give you a

Package: insserv
Version: 1.14.0-2
Severity: serious
Hey,
I just installed a fresh new squeeze.
I also created two quick&dirty init style scrits for my system. Now I
can't install any more daemons because update-rc.d/insserv barfs.
Even if the scripts don't have the new fancy and uber-great he
Package: metacity

Severity: serious
On my fresh squeeze system with gnome I set the number of desktops to 30.
Next time I logged into the system the windowmanager didn't start.
Looking into this it turns out that metacity dies like this:

Package: python-cracklib
Version: 2.8.12-8lenny1
Severity: grave
Hi,
the following (cut down) piece of code, part of db.d.o, runs on lenny,
but apparently not on squeeze:
wea...@intrepid:~$ cat h
#!/usr/bin/python
import cracklib
cracklib.FascistCheck('foo', '/var/cache/cracklib/cracklib_dict')
Package: puppet-common
Version: 2.6.1~rc3-1
Severity: serious
puppet-common cannot be removed when it was only unpacked but
never configured.
I ran into this while trying to install an older puppet (hence the
dpkg instead of just apt), but the bug is still present in the
latest version, as shown
Package: gobby-0.5
Version: 0.4.93-1
Severity: serious
Without dbus installed:

debug1: client_input_channel_open: ctype x11 rchan 3 win 65536 max 16384
debug1: client_request_x11: request from ::1 56
of verification probably isn't.
It might not be something we can fix for this release, but I think this
is a significant security bug in the source package.
Cheers,
weasel
