I think this is not a bug.
Just tell user that this feature allows anyone to
browse '/' with the user mediatomb runs under
(which is not root !)...
Apache basic authentication could be setup very easily.

I've experienced the same problem as per this bug.
Debian installer reported an error about grub installation.
Error message told:
/proc/devices: fopen failed: No such file or directory
So I though of mounting /proc.
