I must apologise for the poor response to this bug report. It should
have been fixed long ago, and it was fixed upstream in April. While
there are an overwhelming number of bugs against the kernel, this
regression should have been treated as a particularly high priority.

I observe the same behaviour here with evince-gtk 3.4.0-3.1 using
postscript drivers (and CUPS) for a lexmark C772n and a lexmark E310
printer.
In the case of the lexmark which has a duplexer, the pages come out
single sided, even though duplexing normally works (and is selected in
this case).
