Attached is a patch to fix the FTBFS with GCC 4.6. In both cases, it
appears that someone is intentionally trying to stuff an integer in a
pointer, so I essentially made the integer type a long so that it would
work on both 32-bit and 64-bit systems.

I found the root cause of this issue. It is the structure of the
tar.gz that is problematic. I have submitted a patch to upstream
build.xml at [1]. But untill it is fixed upstream I will have to patch
build.xml in Debian packaging.

libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental and now empathy works. And now I get ~35 frames
per second with Extreme TuxRacer.

This problem seems to be with upstream build.xml. But I am not sure
why it does not cause issue in upstream distributions.
