Bug#896896: pidgin-sipe: all buddies are shown "offline"

Package: pidgin-sipe Version: 1.21.1-1 Severity: grave Tags: stretch, jessie Lync/Skype for Business buddies all show "Offline" under pidgin-sipe version 1.21.1-1, even though their status shows up correctly in Skype for Business 2016. This issue is also seen under pidgin-sipe version 1.18.2-1

I downloaded and compiled pidgin-sipe 1.23.2. Under version 1.23.2, I am able to connect and buddies continue to show "Offline" in pidgin (just like under pidgin-sipe versions 1.18.2-1 and 1.21.1-1), but I am now also receiving the following error message from pidgin: UCS initialization failed
