Some updates: the problem was a missing 'return true' in a Ossim
source file, it has been fixed upstream, after 2.9.0 :

Maybe you can backport it to 2.8.2.
On OTB side, a patch is needed
Unfortunately, the bug is still present in 2.8.2, same backtrace.
I'll see if there is a workaround for OTB.
