Yes I am running remmina under Wayland. remmina works fine under
XWayland using the command that you proposed.

I guess you are running remmina under Wayland. Wayland does not support
GtkSocket, so some plugins can't work under wayland. If your system is
running XWayland too, you can try to open a terminal and execute the
following commands:
killall remmina
GDK_BACKEND=x11 remmina
