Hello -- unfortunately mosh-server does need to be installed on the server
(it is sort of like ssh in this respect). You can either install it from a
package (which probably requires root -- you would need to ask the
sysadmin), or you can compile it from source, install it in your own home
director

maybe I am doing it wrong, but I fail to make mosh do anything. Any
attempt to connect host results in:
$ mosh kact...@people.debian.org
