I was able to reproduce this crash with motif 2.3.8-2.
Would you please report this issue in the upstream bug tracker [1]?
They may be better able to determine whether this is a bug in motif, or in medm.
If you do, please reply here with the bug number.

I have a GUI app which is based on motif. The GUI app compilation and
linkage goes well on Debian Stretch.
When I launch the GUI it opens properly but when I access menu widgets than
the GUI crashes.
