Yea, and the bug was then archived a while ago. For the discussion, I
unarchived it and forwarded your last mail.

Gregor says 'In Debian all tests [0] pass’
However, if you drill down in to the logs you can see they are not being run
correctly
Sample below (e.g.
https://buildd.debian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=libpgplot-perl&arch=ia
OK I checked on my Ubuntu system with libcpgplot0 v 0.9.5-1 and libgiza0
0.9.5-1 package versions:
test1 - incorrect colours
test2 - no cursor interaction with user, missing markers
test3 - missing histogram fill
test4 - missing grayscale image
test6 - missing contour map
test7 - missing surface
OK I will check on that. Note it is a visual test suite (plot should look like
expected) so automated may not pick things up.
Certainly if all those tests are passed I am happy to move on.

Just to add a data point: In Debian all tests [0] pass:

Hi everyone,
Thanks everyone for the responses - and Ole I do appreciate your enthusiasm
for and the efforts with giza. I also take the point that pgplot has a
problematic license and is effectively abandonware. (Well I would say
development stopped as it reached a natural finish point, but ye
I concur, the sooner we eliminate pgplot5, the better.

Thanks for your detailed summary, Ole.

Hi Karl,
I am the Debian maintainer of giza, and I created this bug to move from
pgplot to giza. The giza lib is already used in dpuser/qfitsview,
wcslib, gyoto, and others. While it still does not implement all
functionality, the subset is good enough for many (probably most of the)

Hi there,
I want to bring up an issue with the perl/PGPLOT package on Debian/Ubuntu. The
relevant apt package is ‘libpgplot-perl’. (This came up when I was installing
PDL on Ubuntu and getting an unexpected graphics library instead of pgplot.)
In short, in the latest version of Ubuntu (>=17)
