Why?
Latest upgrades of the 304xx and the 4.9 kernels will work using xrender,
compositor enabled on start. Window decorations will appear, if sometimes
delayed.
Now the ace-of-penguins freecell dies again. Their other card games work fine.
This was the same problem befor
*304.134-1 fixed the bug for me, i am using testing, glxgears
chrome/chromium and opengl all working normal now without the need of run
the apllications as root. *

I have tried sid version with kernel 4.8, not 4.9 yet
I tried ace-freecell and glxgears and it works

the report indicates that this is a Nvidia specific issue.
Ace-of-Penguins should work with every graphics card of the last decade
