Maybe starting chromium with
"chromium-browser --password-store=basic"
can avoid the keyring-problem.

If you're not actually using it, uninstalling the gnome-keyring
package is a workaround.

Agreed. I am hoping there is a way to disable that new behavior. It

Dear Maintainer,
everytime I start chromium the gnome-keyring starts.
This behaviour is very annoying, because I am using a tiling window
manager and the gnome-keyring windows captures all input except ESC.
