the workaround by amdg1755 worked for me, too. Thank you for the hint!
Yet, it is still not possible to add a new city (or more than one) in
the normal way.

Same problem here, I have used the whether applet before so maybe an old config
is preventing something.
Please let me know which additional information is needed to reproduce the
issue on your sid
