Samba 4.11 became Python3 only so this is fixed in
(testing, almost stable) bullseye 2:4.13.5+dfsg-2
(unstable) sid 2:4.13.5+dfsg-2

Yes. Work has already started. I plan to finish this
FWIW, in Ubuntu we completely dropped python2, I think Debian will
want both for a while? On the other hand, I hear that samba 4.11 will
also completely drop python2.

much more work, and a more diverse set of contributors.
