I deploy Debian 8-based TVs in prisons, using lircd for the remote control.
I want to lock down lircd using systemd.exec(5) options like
{RuntimeDir,User}=lirc.
It looks like this will be easier with 0.9.3 than 0.9.0~pre1.
I started looking into updating D

The lirc sources used (0.9.0-pre1) is now very old (2011), lagging two
major and several minor releases behind upstream.
I'm filing this in my capacity as the upstream maintainer. The very old
sources used by Debian are becoming a problem also for us, sin
