Any chance of getting this into 'unstable' now that jessie has been
released?
The current NTP release in the repos (including unstable) is 4.2.6p5.
It was originally released in 2011 -- almost 4 years ago.
I too would be glad to help make this happen.

Dear Maintainer,
NTP version 4.2.8 includes over 1000 bug fixes and new features,
including final replacement and deprecation of the ntpdc command.
We should consider upgrading.
