Bug#757142: plymouthd crashes when trying to use framebuffer renderer

I also experienced this bug on Debian 8 (jessie) using plymouth/0.9.0-9. I simply downloaded and installed the packages from Debian testing (plymouth/0.9.2-2) and used dpkg to install. Then, the problem disappeared. Hope that helps.
