Thanks. Verbose output was helpful to me when switching from su to
start-stop-daemon so I could ensure that things were working as
expected, but I forgot to re-enable --quiet. Fixed in svn...

Dear Noah,
SVN revision 25371[1] of the SpamAssassin package removed the
--quiet option when cron.daily calls sa-compile. This makes cron send
out daily emails with sa-compile progress output; these emails do not
seem useful.
