I now noticed my mistake/confusion: I started the suspend and hibernate with s2ram and s2disk respectively. It seems that the former calls pm-suspend, while the latter does _not_ call pm-hibernate. If I use pm-hibernate, then everything works as expected. Is this different behaviour documented, an
