Hello,
I can confirm that this bug is present on an (old, but still working
fine) AMD Athlon XP 2500+ on current 38.0.2125.101-3.

Sorry about my last mail, I was too quick on it, I was doing the tests
without an X display and versions 37 and 38 were showing the bug before even
trying to open the display.

I've been testing other older versions and 37.0.2062.120-2 and later don't
run on PIII.
However the 37.0.2062.120-1~deb7u1 version on stable security does work
without any problem.
Earlier versions like 36.0.1985.103-1 also seem to run ok.
Hope this helps to
Hi!
I've updated my old PIII to Jessie today and it seems this bug still hits us
on current 38.0.2125.101-2. I see that you had made a call for tests on
version 36, don't know how that came out, that version is of course no
longer on experimental and as I say, current version doesn't work.
Is the
Today's security update for Chromium stopped it working on my
Pentium III laptop. Just saying in case there's any chance it
can be made to work again.

I have just tried version 36.0.1985.84-1 from experimental and I still get
[0624/092447:FATAL:content_main_runner.cc(689)] Check failed:
base::i18n::InitializeICU().

I suppose it could be a different bug?

i have just tried the experimental package in an unstable/experimental chroot
on non SSE2 hardware (Via Ezra). The good news is that chromium 36.0.1985.67-1
runs without SIGILL but then it fails with

For those experiencing this problem, please test the new package from
experimental, which should work, but I don't have the hardware to
test.
Will be waiting for this feedback before I go ahead with any
stable/unstable uploads containing this change.
Best wishes,
Mike

The fix for this that you have applied does not resolve the issue, it just
removes the flags for the old work around.

The remove of disable_sse2 from rules file makes sense because upstream dropped
it in version 35, but...
...it seems there is a misunderstand here. disable_sse2 worked in this way: 0

GYP_DEFINES = disable_sse2=1 doesn't work anymore.
Upstream dropped support for processors without SSE2 instructions (which
affects AMD K7, Pentium III and older)
