I've implemented a configuration variable,
"xserver-allow-vt-switch", which inhibits the hard-coded
"-novtswitch" flag.
I've emailed the patches to the maintainer and have pushed the
changes to the "vtswitch" branch here:

Hi,
the hardcoded command line option breaks usage of alternate X servers.
E.g. when using Xephyr as xserver command for multiseat setups.
This should really be fixed.
