Did you check if the config files where there after the purge? What front
end are you using?
I installed guake then purge it. The keybinding preferences were remove
from the system but general and style preferences were still on the system

Dear Maintainer,
I installed guake. Later due to some preference issue I
purged it and then again re-installed it thinking that guake's
preferences would be at defaults but to my surprise they were still
there. This should not happen :(
