Followup-For: Bug #708546
As far as I can tell palimpsest has been renamed to gnome-disks. So I
tested this with gnome-disks and did not get a crash. So it looks like
this is fixed in Debian Testing (details below).

To reproduce this bug:
* Start palimpsest.
* Pick a drive, in my case a Seagate ST3750525AS (SATA).
* Click on 'SMART Data'.
* Click on 'Run Self-test'.
* Choose either the short or extended test and click on 'Run Self
