Ah, right, sorry I didn't look at the 4 bugs the one I've repl

If you look closely, you'll see that the bug I reopened was 696011 and
this other bug was linked to it and Balint replied on this bug (691169)
For 696011, the patch can be safely used for wheezy, it doesn't break
anything, it just gives people the ability to us

Hi Daniel,
Is current version in unstable still affected? If not, please mark the
bug accordingly since this open RC bug would prevent migration to testing.
I'm decreasing severity since newer VirtualBox packages build fine with
kernels packaged in Debian.
What do
Thanks a lot !!!

Just want to note here that a patch for the virtualbox source package to
modify the source to compile against Linux 3.7 is in #696011, curtesy of
Stefan Lippers-Hollmann.

Hello,
For what it's worth, the dkms modules build just fine on my 3.6 kernel.
3.6-trunk-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.6.9-1~experimental.1 x86_64
virtualbox 4.1.18-dfsg- amd64
With 3.7 they do not build. :-(
Thanks,
George

This is what I get when DKMS tries to build the module for Linux v3.7.1 built
from the upstream "linux-stable" repo.
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git
$ cat /var/lib/dkms/virtualbox/4.1.18/build/make.log
DKMS make.log for virtualbox-4.1.18 for kernel 3.7.1-c2

It also fails against linux-headers-3.7-trunk-amd64
severity 691169 serious
thanks
no, it's serious. note the experimental tag, so it doesn't account for
wheezy rc bugs.

This should not be considered release critical since it only affects a
kernel version that won't be in the release.
Best wishes,

Hi,
experimental is not frozen, any chance to have a newer upstream version
(4.1.22 would be enough) in it?

Debian's VirtualBox is designed to work with Debian's kernel; For
example Debian 6.0 includes VirtualBox 3.2.10, which supports Debian
6.0 kernel 2.6.32, but not any 3.x series kernels.
Same is true for Wheezy: Debian's VirtualBox 4.1.x is designed to work
with Debian 7.0 kernel 3.2, and you shoul

Dear Maintainer,
unfortunately i can't compile the kernel-module with the vanilla-kernel
mentioned above.
don't know at which kernel-version the problems started, but with 3.6.2 it
doesn't work too.
