Do you have libgl1-mesa-dri 8.0.2 (from unstable) installed? I found
that upgrading to this version of the package, then restarting X solved
the bug.

Wheezy's Gnome 3D did not work anymore in Virtualbox. Fallback mode is
activated since.
Going back to the snapshot taken BEFORE the update took place showed the Gnome
