Attached is a backtrace. I cannot tell, what is causing the segfault. It
just happens - sometimes running iceweasel, sometimes just searching an
application.

Well the way I solved my problem is I removed "accountservice" and
"libaccountservice0" package, along with their removal what was also
removed
Alessio, could you please have a look at this issue.

I've downgraded accountservice and libaccountservice0. Now my sessions
always start in fallback mode. If I then use
gnome-shell --replace
The new shell comes up. I then see such logs/warnings/errors:
> dl@haktar:~$ gnome-shell --replace &
> [1] 4555

Yes that actually worked, downgrading "accountsservice" and
"libaccountsservice0" to testing version fixed the problem.
In the process I had to reinstall "gnome-session gnome-shell gdm3
gnome-control-center" but so far it all seems to be working great!
