I can confirm this problem. It only happens in gnome-shell, in fallback mode
everything looks stable.
The problem occurs in gnome-shell 3.2 as the reporter described.
In gnome-shell from unstable I can trigger this effect by switching
desktops witch CTRL+ALT+Up/Down for a while.

after last gnome-shell's upgrade when try to close a second
window/app after login gnome-shell freezes.
workaround:
- login
- open windows/app es. nautilus
- close nautilus
- reopen nautilus window
- close
- freeze
