Alright, after a restart the bug is gone. I did do a suspend-to-disk before
the problem showed up (usually I only do suspend-to-ram). Maybe the graphics
HW and/or X got wedged? I believe I saw similar behaviour in other older
X-client
After another system restart I no longer have this problem.
