Perhaps I should have mentioned:
I am using Squeeze with the stock terminator from repos,
installed with aptitude.
My WM is openbox.
I don't think the WM has anything to do with this.
I just think it's terminator.

and someone pointed me to this bug.
My terminator wants to use chromium, as well, when I have iceweasel
set (via debian-alternatives) as my default browser.
