Unfortunately master also freezes.
I opened bug 38115 on freedesktop.org, however I was not able to gather any more
information on what is going on...

it might be worth checking what happens with upstream master. We're
still lacking a doc on how to do that, but basically, cloning our
repository, adding a remote pointing to upstream,
