Is the problem solved with the latest package (in sid)? Have zou tried
too with pidgin 2.7.11-1 (available on snapshot.debian.org)?

Every now and then pidgin hungs when skype crashes. Other times it handles it
gracefully.
THis time I was able to get a debug trace of it when it happened.
