I came across this bug as I ran in to it my self, glad to see there's
already a patch! I'd like to object to a small part of the proposed
patch however:
At least on my system the init script for denyhosts prints nothing to
stderr on successful restart so I think it would be more helpful no

A fixed logrotate file is attached.
There is no need in sourcing /etc/denyhosts.conf nor sorting
/etc/hosts.deny (do a "sort -u /etc/hosts.deny" to see how it mess
with the file content and doesn't properly sort the IP numbers).
