I think it's illustrative of the upstream for "GNU parallel" that
- It includes a /usr/bin/sql program, which is the best example of
namespace pollution I have ever thought of.
- It has a completely absurd number of options including gems such as
--skip-first-line (because tail is too hard?),

I believe that this can be resolved in a way that satisfies everyone:
1) GNU parallel is packaged as gnu-parallel
2) the moreutils parallel implementation is separated into its own package:
moreutils-parallel
3) both gnu-parallel and moreutils-parallel Provide parallel
4) moreutils depends on p

The bug report mentions one package that would be broken.

I sent a grand total of two sentances to that bug report.
I will assume that "I have not had any time to work on it" did not
cause that misunder

I object to involving the technical committee
I object to involving the technical committee. There is not a technical
disagreeement here; there is a lack of work here.
If the technical committee desires less work though, continue and I will
orphan moreutils.

The two programs are not switch-compatable and I don't want to break
all the people who are using moreutils's parallel in scripts.
Also, I have not had any time to work

Is there any progress on this?
Is a special reason for keeping 'parallel' in 'moreutils' in the branch?
