NOTE:
I suspect that the bug 578101 "network-manager-kde: eduroam style networks are
not working with knetworkmanager (but with nm-applet)" is heavily related to
this bug.

I have a very similar problem using knetworkmanager to connect to my
unversity's WPA2 Enterprise network.
If I run wpa_supplicant by hand
/etc/init.d/network-manager stop
ifconfig wlan0 up
wpa_supplicant -i wlan0 -c wpa_supplicant.conf -B
